NOTIFICATION OF WORKS
LOCATION: Commonage Road
SCOPE OF WORKS: Road Reconstruction
WORKS CONDUCTED: Between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
DURATION: Commencing February | Completed April (weather permitting)
Necessary road reconstruction works have commenced on Commonage Road between Mewett Road and Cornerstone Way, Dunsborough.
Deteriorating road surface, pavement failures and significant edgewear attributed to increased traffic volumes, requires the removal of existing surface, reconstruction of the gravel pavement and road resurfacing.
Why can’t we keep half the road open?
Closing half the road at a time might seem like a good option, but it’s not safe or efficient. Doing so would significantly extend the project’s duration, increase costs, and cause lengthy delays for everyone. By closing the entire works area, we’re able to ensure a faster and safer process for all.
Road closures and detours will be in place during working hours, with temporary traffic management measures during evenings and weekends.
On evaluating public submissions and feedback on the project, three detour options are suggested below, considering the stage of works and the type of vehicle.
The works will necessitate the closure of the entire works area at times during the road reconstruction.
Please note:
- Local access (Genoli Road and Simmos) will be maintained, with potential for minor delays.
- Dunsborough Christian College have been notified of works and parents are urged to use the alternate routes below.
- Access/egress will be permitted through the works area in the event of an emergency.
The use of alternate routes is strongly encouraged wherever possible. Residents are also encouraged to observe speed limits and drive to conditions. Every effort will be made to minimise any inconvenience.
Remember - we’re all humans. The people working on the road or taking your calls are doing their best to minimize the impact on your day. Please be kind, patient, and respectful – they’re here to help and keep everyone safe.
This project is proudly co-funded through $500,000 in State Government funding and will enhance safety by introducing a narrow-sealed shoulder – a key improvement to reduce crashes, all without removing vegetation.
