The Council of the City of Busselton consists of nine elected members. The Mayor is elected by the community. Councillors are responsible for representing the interests of residents, providing leadership and guidance in decision-making. Committees of Council and other working groups enable informed decision-making through providing a broad range of advice to the Council.
Phill Cronin
Mayor
Elected to Council in October 2019, Phill is a hobby farmer, communication consultant, board member, husband and City of Busselton Mayor.
Originally from the UK where he qualified with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Phill was a regular visitor to the South West for more than 20 years.
Phill says that nowhere could top the City of Busselton, which offers a unique mixture of “commercial opportunity, natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle”. So here he happily resides with his wife and their two (impeccably trained) border collies, Scout and Charlie.

Cr Anne Ryan
Deputy Mayor
Elected to Council in the 2021 election with the highest number of votes, Anne is humbled for the support and committed to the next four years of hard work and representation for the people of Busselton City.
Anne has a Diploma of Aviation and has spent the last two years working at the Busselton Margaret River Airport. She now devotes herself full time to her position on Council.
She lives in Vasse with her partner and has two adult children, and a new grandchild, a most welcome addition to her extended family.
Anne is passionate about community consultation and stakeholder engagement and the provision of quality and proactive customer service to the community, and will work hard to deliver this and bring about positive change.

Cr Richard Beecroft
Councillor
Elected to Council in 2023, Richard has been a Dunsborough resident for over 10 years.
Richard has been involved in the aviation industry for over 40 years, piloting many different aircraft types ranging from ultralights to B747’s. He has also held management positions in the aviation industry and been responsible for supervising and training pilots, flight attendants and ground staff.
In his spare time Richard enjoys spending time with his family.

Cr Kate Cox
Councillor
Kate was first elected to Council in 2019 and was elected for a second four-year term in 2023. Kate has lived in the City of Busselton for over 25 years and currently resides in Dunsborough.
She has had a diverse career having worked in local government, owned a retail and wholesale business and run a large-scale dairy business with her husband Ed.
Kate has a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Political Science as well as Diploma’s in Health Promotion and Local Government. She is passionate about providing positive leadership to her community and regularly chairs Council Committee’s and participates in a number of community working groups.
Kate raised her three daughters in Busselton and has spent countless hours volunteering for their sports teams and School P&C as well as many fundraising committees.
Kate is so grateful to live in such an amazing part of the world and be in a position to contribute in some small way to making it even better!

Cr Val Kaigg
Councillor
Val has always made her family her number one priority, especially after becoming a widow at the very young age of 37. It was in 1990, whilst searching for a better lifestyle that she chose beautiful Busselton as the place to raise her family.
Her career included office management roles across various industries, seven years as a community-based kindergarten teacher and 13 years in a number of roles at the then Shire of Busselton, including Cleaning Supervisor, Facilities Officer and Project Coordinator. It was these roles that allowed her to gain a thorough understanding of the operational side of local government and the challenges faced with an ever-growing population with big expectations and the necessity of budget constraints.
In her spare time, Val enjoys supporting local events, as well as various youth sporting and performing arts activities participated in by her grandchildren.

Cr Jarrod Kennedy
Councillor
Born and raised in Busselton, Jarrod’s hopes that his only bias is believing that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
He studied to be an engineering surveyor and worked across the South West region, before working on the mines in Paraburdoo for five years, where his wife was posted as a teacher. Jarrod got involved in many community groups and joined the Army Reserves, before moving back to Busselton in 2016.
Jarrod is passionate about the environment, having built an energy efficient home here in Busselton to enjoy a healthy, happy and minimal lifestyle with his wife and two small children.
In his spare time, Jarrod enjoys beach volleyball, surfing, modern boardgames, yoga and meditation.
He believes he has the capacity and commitment to foster positive change from the people at a natural grass roots level.

Cr Mikayla Love
Councillor
Mikayla has been part of this community for over two decades and is proud to call Busselton home. She attended Geographe Primary School and Busselton Senior High School before starting her career within the customer service industry. Mikayla has watched Busselton grow from a town of 25,000 to the City it is today, home to approximately 44,000 people. Now, as a new parent, Mikayla is even more motivated to ensure that it thrives for the next generation.
With over 12 years in the customer service industry, Mikayla understands the importance of prioritising the community and listening to people with empathy and compassion to find solutions for the greater good. Between juggling the responsibility of a City Councillor and a first-time mom, Mikayla manages to find time to embrace the joys of hiking amongst the serene bushlands and coastlines, and diving into the imaginative realms of science fiction literature. Mikayla treasures spending quality time with her loved ones.

Cr Andrew Macnish
Councillor
Elected to the Council in 2023, Andrew isn’t a stranger to the City of Busselton Council, having previously been appointed its CEO in 2003 for 7 years. Prior to that, he was a management consultant and had a professional AFL career with the West Coast Eagles and Geelong (making the All-Australian team whilst still 20 years of age).
Andrew’s qualifications are extensive and include: Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), Master of Business Administration, Graduate Diploma of Insurance, Graduate Certificate of Urban Planning, Master of Sustainability Management, Graduate Certificate Bushfire Protection and a Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
He has been living in Yallingup for over 20 years, bringing up his family of four children (and 7 grandchildren) in the family home he built himself (taking 4 years). Andrew and his wife (accompanied by their two dogs) now run a Bed and Breakfast on their property..

Cr Jodie Lee
Councillor
Jodie has lived in the South West intermittently since 1987 and then in 2007 it became her permanent home when she was transferred to Busselton as a Paramedic. Jodie has a passion for small business and sustainable economic and social development and after 14 years of service with St John’s Ambulance, she started a business in the Vasse Business Park.
In 2012, she joined the Board of the Busselton Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and accepted the role of CEO of the BCCI in 2017.
Jodie is kept busy with two teenage children, currently sits on the Board of South West Counselling Inc and operates two businesses - Global Industry Solutions and Get Pickled and Get Shucked.
