The City of Busselton’s Events Sponsorship Program will once again provide significant funding to continue with the successful delivery of several well-loved events within the City.

Funded through a differential rate on industrial and commercial rated properties, this competitive program provides over $1 million towards events and marketing each year, reinforcing the City’s position as the Events Capital of WA.

At its meeting on 20 November 2024, Council approved funding for seven events following a recommendation from the City’s Business Development, Events and Marketing Program Reference Group which has a role in assessing applications. Events qualifying for funding must demonstrate strong community or economic outcomes and are required to provide data to the City to demonstrate the return on investment. Events set to receive funding include the Festival of Busselton, Carols by the Jetty, Cape Naturaliste Pro and Busselton Runners Club Bay Run. Financial support to events and programs such as the above, enhance the City’s appeal, attracts a large number of visitors to the region and stimulates local businesses.

The Mayor Phill Cronin says “This funding supports the City’s new Council Plan 2024-2034, through implementing a diverse calendar of events that maximise economic and social benefits for the community and local businesses”.

Council also endorsed Round 2 of the City’s Community Assistance Program (CAP) 2024/2025 funding that included over $75,000 to go to community groups and not-for-profit organisations. The CAP supports programs, services, and projects that enhance the social, environmental, and cultural development of the district and all applications are reviewed by the CAP Advisory Panel.
The Mayor Phill Cronin says “12 community groups and not-for-profits will receive funding through the Community Assistance Program, which will afford them the ability to continue providing support to our local community. The program is an integral part of the City’s Community Development Plan and its aspirations to continue supporting projects that promote a safe, healthy, and capable community. ”
