On 16 October 2024, Council formally endorsed a brand new Council Plan 2024-2034. This comprehensive new plan outlines the City’s vision, outcomes and strategic priorities for the next ten years and details the specific priority projects which will be undertaken over the next four years.

The Council Plan reflects the feedback received from community through the community scorecard survey and community workshops earlier in the year, with these themes informing the vision, aspirations and objectives for the City. The vision statement ‘Where environment, lifestyle and opportunity thrive’ is supported by five key outcomes:

  1. Lifestyle – Our community is safe, welcoming and inclusive, with access to services and facilities to support good health and wellbeing.
  2. Environment – An environment that is valued, conserved and able to be enjoyed by current and future generations.
  3. Place – Responsible planning is helping the region to experience sustainable growth with retention and enhancement of our unique character, identity and lifestyle.
  4. Opportunity – We have a vibrant and growing economy with diverse opportunities for everyone to learn, work and flourish.
  5. Leadership – We actively engage with community to deliver visionary, collaborative and accountable leadership.

The Plan also highlights six strategic priorities which the community made clear, were the most important to them: Sport and Recreation; Rivers and Waterways; Responsible Development and Housing; Airport Services; Community Safety; and Communication and Engagement.

Mayor Phill Cronin said “What’s clear is that our community is passionate about the City and its future. With an abundance of natural beauty and many opportunities for social and economic growth, the City continues to be a popular place to live, visit and invest.  Responsibly managing growth while also retaining our local character and sense of identity is a key focus for the City. I encourage all residents to view the new Council Plan (our plan for the future) on the City’s website.”

“On behalf of the Council, I wish to thank all those who contributed their thoughts and ideas by taking part in the City’s surveys, workshops and one-on-one discussions. I would also like to thank our local schools and student leaders for their contribution.”

The Council Plan will be reviewed regularly as projects are delivered to ensure continued focus on community priorities in a changing environment.

Objectives outlined in this statement are aligned with the City of Busselton’s Council Plan (2024 - 2034) Key Theme Leadership – We actively engage with community to deliver visionary, collaborative and accountable leadership.
