Not all disabilities are visible. Conditions such as autism, chronic pain, dementia, anxiety, and visual or hearing impairments are often not immediately obvious. Living with a hidden disability can make daily life more challenging, and it can be difficult for others to recognise, acknowledge, or understand these challenges.
At the City of Busselton, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community. We are proud to announce that we’re supporting the Hidden Disabilities (HD) Sunflower initiative. This initiative aims to raise awareness and provide better support for individuals with hidden disabilities.
As part of this commitment, many of our key staff who interact directly with customers have completed specialised training to better understand and assist those living with hidden disabilities. This training equips our staff with the knowledge and skills to offer more compassionate and effective support.
We believe that by embracing the HD Sunflower initiative, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our community members. Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels recognised, respected, and supported.
