Sandy Beaches - Playgrounds or Unique Ecosystems
Thursday 30th January 2025
Anton has spent a lifetime studying beaches around the globe. He will share his perspective on the role and function of beach ecosystems and their place in sandy coasts, situated as they are between dunes and surf zones; this will include biodiversity patterns, food webs and nutrient cycling. He will also look at the interactions between humans and beaches, both historically and currently, and consider the issues confronting them in a time of sea level rise.
