Yallingup Galleries is proud to present an extraordinary exhibition featuring three distinguished Australian artists: Larry Mitchell, Brendon Darby, and Shannah Mitchell. This compelling showcase of landscape and seascape paintings highlights the beauty, fragility, and emotional depth of the West Australian environment, as seen through the eyes of three uniquely talented painters.

Larry Mitchell: Documenting a Changing World

Born in Northampton, Larry Mitchell is a self-taught artist whose lifelong connection to Western Australia’s coastal landscapes has shaped his artistic journey. His One Degree Centigrade Project is an ongoing mission to document the delicate ecosystems and cultures most vulnerable to climate change and globalisation. Through breathtaking large-scale realism, Larry’s paintings create a profound sense of both admiration and urgency—capturing not just what exists, but what may be lost.
His work has been widely collected both in Australia and internationally, with major public and private collections acquiring his paintings. His deep understanding of the ocean and its changing landscapes makes this exhibition a must-see for art lovers and environmentalists alike.

Brendon Darby: The Sound of Landscape

A multi-disciplinary artist, Brendon Darby blends his passion for painting with his career as a professional musician. His evocative landscapes emerge from a lifetime of exploration and a deep connection to the Australian bush.
In 2007, Brendon’s groundbreaking project Listening to Paintings – Australia was exhibited at New York’s American Museum of Natural History as part of G’Day USA, raising over $1 million for environmental causes. His work has since gained international recognition, with exhibitions in Houston and beyond. Through his art, Brendon shares an intimate visual and emotional response to the natural world, urging viewers to not just see the landscape, but to truly feel it.

Shannah Mitchell: A Contemporary Impressionist Vision

Born into a world of art, Shannah Mitchell inherited her father’s (Larry Mitchell) passion for painting. Raised in Geraldton and now based in Coogee, Shannah has developed a loose, impressionistic style, capturing fleeting moments of light, texture, and colour in her coastal and urban landscapes.  Her career has gained momentum in recent years, with her paintings drawing widespread attention for their expressive, atmospheric quality. Balancing motherhood and artistry, she has transitioned into a full-time painting career, producing works that invite viewers to see the beauty in everyday surroundings.

This exhibition unites three generations of artistic excellence, each offering a distinct yet interconnected perspective on the Australian landscape. It is a rare opportunity to experience the work of three extraordinary artists whose paintings evoke a deep appreciation for nature’s splendour and fragility.
