Ingrid Windram and Josh Windram Exhibition - 5th April – 13th April 2025 at Yallingup Galleries

Opening Night: Saturday 5th April, 5:00 PM - Featuring wines by Vallée du Venom and a selection of gourmet nibbles.

Yallingup Galleries is delighted to present an extraordinary exhibition showcasing the works of mother and son, Ingrid Windram and Josh Windram. Running from 5th April to 13th April 2025, this exclusive event celebrates the dynamic contrast between Ingrid’s masterful landscape paintings and Josh’s contemporary abstract works.

Ingrid Windram: A Legacy of Landscape

Established artist Ingrid Windram has enjoyed a remarkable career, beginning with her first solo exhibition in South Australia in 1982. A decade later, she relocated to the Kimberley region, where she developed a deep artistic connection to its striking landscapes. Traveling extensively across the region, Ingrid captures the Kimberley’s unique light and vibrant colour through her signature paintings. In addition to her celebrated Kimberley works, this exhibition will also feature her stunning depictions of local scenes, offering a broader perspective on her artistic journey.

‘Tidal Inlet’

"Light, colour, and texture live exuberantly in my artistic world. Nature is the inspiration that I draw from, expanding on the elements to create the essence of the subject. I set up my studio in the Kimberley in 1992 and immersed myself in this vibrant landscape, captivated by the diversity of this ancient country with red escarpments, wetlands, and boab trees. More recently, I have also been exploring and painting local scenes, inspired by the beauty of my immediate surroundings."

Josh Windram: A Journey of Transformation Through Art

Having grown up surrounded by art, Josh Windram honed his skills as a master picture framer for his family's business, Windram Art. Today, he is emerging as a powerful artistic voice, known for his evocative Australian Abstracts painted from his home studio in Southwest Australia. Josh’s path to becoming an artist was deeply personal. Overcoming a history of substance abuse, he reconnected with his family in 2016 and successfully completed a rehabilitation program through Fresh Start. During this challenging period, he found solace in art, working closely with a professional artist who helped him channel his experiences into creative expression.
Recognising the therapeutic value of art, Josh initially pursued a degree in Art Therapy before realising that his true calling was to be a full-time artist. Since then, his artistic career has flourished, and he has received widespread recognition for his work.

A Rising Talent

In 2019, Josh won the ‘People’s Choice’ Award at the Bunbury Catholic College Art Extraordinaire for his piece Shimmer. That same year, he held his first duo exhibition with his mother, Ingrid. In 2021, his talent was further recognised when he won First Prize at the Vasse Art Awards for his work Everlong.

An Exclusive Invitation
This exhibition marks another milestone in the artistic journey of both Ingrid and Josh Windram. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the breathtaking landscapes of the Kimberley and captivating local scenes through Ingrid’s work, alongside the expressive, abstract compositions of Josh. The Opening Night on 5th April promises to be a vibrant gathering, featuring exquisite wines by Vallée du Venom and a carefully curated selection of nibbles.
