The City of Busselton would like to announce the appointment of Sharon Custers as the Venue Manager of the Busselton Cultural Precinct. Sharon was previously the Executive Director of Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre (BREC) where she led the team to win the industry’s highest award for Australian Performing Arts Centre of the Year in 2017. Since then she has been the Executive Director of Arena Theatre Company in Victoria producing cutting edge live experiences for young audiences.
Sharon has also worked for iconic Australian organisations such as Sydney Theatre Company, where she coordinated productions at Sydney Opera House; and internationally for one of the world’s most successful commercial entertainment companies, Cirque Du Soleil.
She shares the City’s vision to create a gathering place that is inclusive for everyone in the community and far beyond. A space that will engage with First Nations culture in an authentic and meaningful way, where families and young people will be entertained and enriched and where creativity will be celebrated.
Growing up in the South West, Sharon can’t wait to return home to serve the creative community of Busselton and contribute to the growth of the region as a tourism destination.
“I’ve been watching the development of this project with anticipation for about 5 years now. Ever since I first heard about it, it’s been my dream to step in and deliver a vision for the Centre that will surpass all expectations. I am incredibly honoured to have been entrusted with this task,” Sharon said.
Sharon will commence at the end of May.
